Pastor Jon Marx
Senior Pastor
Bethel Assembly Church
Pastor Jon graduated from North Central University in 1990 with a degree in Pastoral Studies. His first church assignment was Associate Pastor at Fountain of Life Gospel Church a small inner-city church in Minneapolis, MN.
In May of 1991 he married his High School Sweetheart after a long dating/courtship relationship. He says that apart from Salvation, this was the best decision he ever made in his life. His bride’s name is Michelle—she’s awesome!
They spent the next 17 years at Living Hope Church in Elk Grove Village, IL. There, Pastor Jon served the church as Youth Pastor for 13 years and Small Groups & Teaching Pastor over the last 4 years. Michelle served Living Hope as their Worship Arts pastor including music, drama and service production.
The Marx family came to Bethel Assembly in November, 2009 and they are already enjoying their new life in Fosston.
Pastor Jon is passionate about studying, preaching and teaching, and just being with people—but his real hobbies include hiking, biking, rock climbing, playing his instruments and spending time with his family.

Kate Carlton
Secretary
Bethel Assembly Church
Kate grew up near the shores of Lake Superior. She came alive in her faith in Jesus Christ in 1989 at Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp, in Fosston, MN. After graduating from high school, she moved to Chicago to pursue further education. In 1998, she married her best friend, Tim. She enjoyed the opportunity to work for SBC Communications in a project management office while she lived in IL.
In November 2001, she made the move back to small town Minnesota with her adventurer husband when he accepted his first full time ministry position at Bethel Assembly. Shortly after the move, Kate was asked to “temporarily” fill in at the church office. Nine years later, she continues to work part time at the church in an administrative role. Life continues on as she learns and grows.
She has become mother to Grace (7) and Jude (3) and is also in the process of waiting for a child placement in an international adoption. Kate loves many things including good coffee, art, the outdoors, the sound of her children laughing, and time spent with family. |
