Elevate Youth Group meets at Bethel every Wednesday at 7:00pm throughout the year. We love camaraderie and gaming, contemporary worship and Bible teaching. Elevate often has time in small groups designed for prayer and more personal conversation; we want to challenge and support each other!
A typical Wednesday will include games, worship, teaching, videos, small group time and food. We try to balance discussion of hot-button issues with sound Bible teaching. We are committed to service in our church, our community, and the wider world, to spiritual growth through prayer and challenging and relevant teaching, and to supporting each other by walking through life together.
Junior High Friday School classes meet from 8:30-9:15am at the Methodist Church next to Fosston High School nearly every Friday during the school year. The Senior High group meets from 9:20-10:10am in the Civic Center, adjacent to Fosston High School.
Pastors Tyler Stynsberg and Seth Johnson teach the class together, and the 2015-2016 curriculum follows a series of Bible videos done by the guys at Bible Project. The videos condense books of the Bible into 5-8 minute synopses, which we show and discuss. The material is deep and very compelling. Preview one of the videos here.
Though no decision has been made yet, the Elevate Missions Trip for 2016 will possibly take the youth, once again, to Camp Barnabas, a camp in southern Missouri for kids and adults with mental and/or physical disabilities. In 2014 a team of nine students and leaders from Bethel went down and were stretched, challenged and inspired. In 2015 a team of ten students and leaders went down and again found it a challenging, but thoroughly rewarding, experience. Camp Barnabas provides an incredible opportunity to meet dynamite people, selflessly care for people with disabilities, forge friendships, and learn about empathy, compassion and grit. It has been a powerfully transformative and profoundly moving trip for everyone who has been able to go.
Visit the Camp Barnabas website to learn more about the Teas Family, this amazing ministry, and how you can be a part of it.
Every year Elevate is involved in several events designed to help students grow spiritually. We attend a retreat in St. Paul every Spring that focuses on Easter, but also on the inner city poor. Service projects go into neighborhoods and may focus on prayer, garbage removal, or children’s ministry.
Camps are the apex of the summer ministry at Bethel, and run through most of July. Our camp is located six miles south of Fosston on Sand Hill Lake, and the camp is beautiful, and exceptionally well run and cared for by Manager Don Vanklompenburg. Our summer camps are a time of soaking in the things of God, and 2015 will focus on the TRUTH of God’s word. Read more about Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp on their website.
Fall Retreat happens over MEA weekend every October and is, once again, at Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp. The retreat incorporates service projects and silent time alone into its programming to help students get doses of things they sorely need and rarely get. It’s a tremendous time of spiritual renewal in the early part of the school year.
